RBCC2 vs Gent CC (home)

RBCC lost by 4 wickets

Match Report

RBCC were very determined to win this game in order to improve their ranking position. The day started very well with our captain (Sameel Hayat) winning the toss and electing to bat first. Asama and Deepak started well and played the opening overs carefully in order settle first. But unfortunately Asama got out after scoring four runs. Ricky then joined Deepak at the crease and he straight away looked very comfortable and started his counter attack.

Both players were playing very well with Ricky taking the aggressor’s role and Deepak rotating the strike. He kept scoring boundaries regularly. Everything was going well for RBCC until a questionable decision got Ricky LBW for 23 runs. From there RBCC struggled to build a strong partnership and were not able to accelerate for the final overs.

Thanks to Deepak (69), Ricky (23), Matt (33) and Jitendriya (22), RBCC were able to post a good total. A strong finish in the latter half of the innings could have pushed the total higher. After the lunch break RBCC took the field to defend a respectable total. RBCC were not very disciplined in their bowling & fielding during the power play overs. Gent CC were scoring at a healthy run rate without losing too many wickets.

The introduction of Sameel Hayat gave us hope. He finished the day with a five wicket haul including a hat trick but unfortunately a few dropped catches cost us the match. Very well played Deepak and Sameel but unfortunately we were unable to defend a score which on a good day should have been enough.
