Match Report

Beginning play under menacing skies, RBCC elected to bowl after winning the toss. RBCC started promisingly holding ICCB 3/18 after 10 overs, with Matt taking 2 wickets and Shabaz 1.  Tayyab came on as first-change bowling mystery balls, taking a wicket with his first ball followed by several very very close calls. Further quick wickets were taken by Prateek (2), Sachin (2) and Abdul Wahed (1). In the 23 over ICCB were 9/76. A miraculous comeback was staged by the opposition for their last wicket, which was finally halted by Nitesh (1). The target was 153 runs.

RBCC started on track, reaching 43 runs after 10 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. Abdul Manan contributed 20 quick runs. In the middle overs Jawad (39) and Deepak (22) delivered a steadying 50 run partnership. However the loss of Deepak’s wicket triggered a mid-lower order collapse. The run rate was close to a run a ball in the last few overs with only 1 wicket in hand. Vincent (25 n.o.) and Matt (7 n.o.) combined to bring us so agonizingly close. Needing 2 runs off the last ball to win, only a single was able to be taken that tied the match. The day ended in the warm Belgian sun, which is fitting to an exciting and enjoyable match played in the friendliest of spirts between the two teams.
