RBCC Ladies

Ladies cricket was first seen at RBCC in the late nineties, but unfortunately only lasted a year or two due to the transient nature of Brussels life and the arrival of small children.

From 2001 onwards the club benefitted from an increase in the general membership, rejuvenating the club and our ambitions to restart the ladies division. In 2005, the first Ladies Day was organised with over 30 ladies from across Brussels joining in. Such was its success that this very social, round-robin tournament is now organised each year in June.

With growing numbers of ladies playing year after year, the Belgian Cricket Federation started to take note of the popularity of ladies cricket. In 2011 they asked the RBCC ladies whether they would be interested in helping put together the first ever National Ladies cricket team.

Nine of the RBCC ladies were selected and played at an International level for Belgium in July 2011, where they took part in a 4 day tournament hosted in Belgium against teams from Germany, The Netherlands and Hungary. The ladies did themselves proud securing 3rd place, a considerable achievement having only been formed a month or two before the competition.

Ladies’ cricket in Belgium is definitely gaining momentum and our club ladies team organisers work very hard to ensure there are as many opportunities as possible for the ladies to have fun, socialise and enjoy playing cricket each Summer.

The Inter-club games, our famous Ladies Day and home-&-away fixtures to Luxembourg and Paris each year, means there is plenty of cricket to be played. With the number of fixtures increasing year-on-year, we are always on the look-out for new members to get involved, no matter what their skill level.

If you are interested in playing cricket, socialising with a load of like-minded ladies and having a few giggles along the way, then please feel free to contact us at the following email address: rbccladiescricket@ymail.com

We look forward to welcoming you to  Royal Brussels CC and perhaps enjoying a glass of wine at the club bar.
